Now Hiring!
The Seattle Fire Department is now accepting entry-level Firefighter applications
Our entry-level Firefighter application period is now open and we will be accepting applications through November 25, 2025. A link to the application is available on our website at www.SeattleFireJobs.com.
Candidates who submit an application will receive instructions on how to complete the testing process.
Video Exam:
- Option 1: Take a video test (FireTEAM) between October 7th – December 9th, 2025, conducted by the National Testing Network (NTN) either online or in-person at NTN testing centers. The test is self-scheduled through the NTN website. Important note: If you select Option 1, you forfeit the ability to transfer a current FireTEAM exam score (see Option 2 below).
- Option 2: Transfer a valid FireTEAM score completed between October 7th, 2024 and December 9th, 2025. Applicants who elect to transfer scores will be able to add Seattle as a department following NTN’s standard “department add” process. Seattle will only accept one of the above test results options. (If you have tested within the last 90 days, you must transfer your scores.)
PSSA1:
- Complete the Public Safety Self-Assessment 1 online through NTN’s website and submit scores before December 9th, 2025.
- All candidates will receive their preliminary scores on the above exams after December 9th, 2025.
Candidates who pass both the FireTEAM and the PSSA1 will be invited to Oral Boards.
- The top 1,500 candidates will be invited to participate in the Oral Board Exams.
- Oral Board Exams will be held in person in the Seattle area from Jan 21st – Feb 7th, 2026 (These dates are tentative and will be adjusted as necessary.)
The register created through this application period and testing process will be available in March 2025, and the first class hired from the new register will begin in August 2025. We anticipate hiring two recruit classes from this register. More information on our hiring process can be found here: https://www.seattle.gov/fire/jobs-and-opportunities/hiring-process.
