SeattleFD.com is an independent firefighter-career guide. It is not operated by, endorsed by, or affiliated with the City of Seattle or the Seattle Fire Department.
Our focus is helping prospective firefighter candidates understand publicly available information about Seattle-area fire careers, hiring timelines, testing and preparation. When a date, requirement or process can change, we aim to verify it against current official sources and link readers to the responsible agency for the final word.
Our editorial approach
- Use official City of Seattle, Seattle Fire Department and Public Safety Civil Service Commission information as primary sources for time-sensitive hiring facts.
- Clearly distinguish independent guidance from official department statements.
- Preserve source links so readers can verify requirements and deadlines themselves.
- Correct stale or inaccurate information when newer official information becomes available.
