RE:    LETTERS OF INTEREST – BATTALION CHIEF OF TRAINING

The Training Division is accepting letters of interest for the position of Battalion Chief of Training. Members with the rank of Battalion Chief are eligible to apply.

The Battalion Chief assigned to this position will be responsible for but is not limited to supervising the Operations side of the Training Division to include Operations Training, EMS Training, and Driving Instruction. In this position, the Battalion Chief will lead and manage the Operations Training Team to create consistencies between Operations Division and Training Division as well as act as a liaison between the two Divisions to ensure that implemented training is current and relevant.

The Battalion Chief of Training will manage Operations Training including the following Programs plus additional work as assigned:

·       Academies and IFSAC Certifications

·       MCO’s

·       Acquired Structure Training

·       IC or ISO at Live Fire Training

·       Modified Duty Members

·       Training Calendar

·       Operations Level Technical Rescue Certification Compliance

·       Administrative Members Working in Operations Compliance

·       King County Training Officers’ Representative

·       Zone 1 and Zone 3 Cooperative Training

·       Outside Training Opportunities for SFD members

In situations where the Deputy Chief of Training is unavailable, the Battalion Chief of Training will additionally assist with the Recruit Training side of the Training Division.

Battalion Chiefs assigned to the Training Division receive premium pay in accordance with the Local 2898 Contract, if/when it is legislated.

Members selected for this position can expect to be assigned to the Training Division for two years. This is a 40-hour a week assignment, working Tuesday to Friday from 0600 – 1600 hours or Monday to Friday from 0600 – 1400 hours.
